Boats
We need boat drivers and boats
We have taken a unique approach to our organization. Most organizations require the anglers to have a boat to join. While it is super helpful for anglers to bring a boat that they can use when they join the organization. We have an amazing group of boat drivers that drive for anglers that don't have access to a boat. The Fishhawx organization compensates our boat drivers to help cover the cost of gas for the tournament.
What does it take to be a boat driver?
Have a boat, having a trolling motor is preferred.
Early spring tournaments do not require an operation livewell but summer time tournaments do require an operation livewell.
Have an insurance policy of $300,000 or more on your boat
You are not required to be an expert on bass fishing
We work on teaching the anglers the skills to find and catch bass throughout the winter and spring seminars
We are more than willing to teach you skills to help the anglers find and catch fish.
Day in the life of an boat driver
Before the event:
You will be asked by an angler to drive for them for an upcoming event. Once you confirm, the angler will fill out the information on a shared document that you are confirmed to drive for them.
You can coordinate with the anglers to give them a ride to the ramp or meet them at the ramp.
Review the rules and information that will be posted on the Boater Information page on the website.
Day of the event:
Arrive at the ramp at or before the required time for the anglers to register with the tournament director
Matt or Brian will meet you at the ramp and give you gas money/ramp fee for the event.
Launch the boat and drive the anglers for the tournament (You will not be able to fish during the event.)
Coach the anglers during the tournament
Return to the boat launch before the required time the anglers need to be back before (coordinate with your anglers when they want to leave, help them know what time they should plan for to get back)
